Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure designed to remove yellow discoloration and stains from the enamel caused by substances such as cigarettes, tea, coffee, and soda. These substances can cause a yellowish or stained appearance on the tooth surface, which brushing alone cannot address. Whitening can effectively eliminate these stains and restore a brighter, whiter smile.

Whitening Procedure

1. Preparation: The process begins with preparing the teeth. A protective barrier is placed between the gums and teeth to cover 6-8 teeth in the upper jaw and 6-8 teeth in the lower jaw (the number may vary based on your smile line). This step follows tartar removal and polishing.

2. Application: A whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide is then applied to the targeted teeth. The reaction is enhanced using a light source.

3. Reapplication: The gel is cleaned off and reapplied every 15 minutes until the desired whitening effect is achieved. The entire process, including tartar removal, polishing, and three whitening sessions, takes approximately 75 minutes on average.

Post-Treatment

You may experience mild sensitivity during or after the whitening process, but this typically resolves within 1-3 days. It is crucial to follow the treatment steps fully and correctly to achieve the best results.
